Why Now?

The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) conducted a thorough assessment of our 12 buildings over the span of two years. Its conclusion shows that critical, essential, and emerging repairs are needed now, as well as in the near future. At this time, co-funding from the state is at 43%. Our local share dropped from 91% to 57%. It is necessary to evolve and improve in order to compete academically with neighboring districts and to maintain an exceptional state standing. Many of our surrounding communities have successfully partnered with OFCC to build new, state-of-the art facilities for their students. Let’s use the state’s help to do this for Kettering!

A Wise Investment

Communities are judged on a lot of things but one of the most important things is their schools. The Kettering community deserves the best school buildings. Investing in schools promotes current businesses, new business coming in, new housing, and protects property values—it impacts the entire community. Students are a key part of that community. They are the future of our community and it all begins with the schools.

Our district directs over 71% of funds to the classroom, ensuring that our dollars are spent in the classroom. Our 4.5 star state rating is a testament to the dedication of our great community and the financial support it provides. These top rankings and impressive achievements require sustained focus on providing Kettering City Schools with resources needed. We need our great community in order to create even greater schools.

Our district has a tremendous tradition of pride in its schools and we want to carry that into the future. New buildings would instill greater pride in students and staff, showing them that the community cares enough to give them the best resources possible.

A History of Strong Community Support

2002 Bond Issue: used for long-term capital improvements, such as renovating existing structures and adding spaces. Greenmont was built using this bond, as well as A/C added to buildings, Trent Arena and Roush Stadium improvements.

2016 Permanent Improvement Levy: provided funds for maintaining, repairing, or purchasing assets such as buses, technology, or facility repairs and cannot be used for operational costs; built new classroom space for all-day kindergarten, Fairmont Auditorium, and expanded the Career Tech Center.

Kettering has a long-standing history of community support for operating levies and bond issues.
